About the Competition

What is the AD Dance Competition?

A professionally produced dance competition across the UK and Ireland designed to celebrate performance excellence while supporting dancer development.

Who runs the competition?

The AD Dance Competition is organised by The Aaron Dwyer Company.

Who is Aaron Dwyer?

Aaron Dwyer is a dance educator, choreographer, creative director and event producer with more than 20 years of experience.

Who is the Official Host?

Laura Tindle is the Official Host of the AD Dance Competition.

02 / Registration

Registration & Entries

How do I register?

Entries are submitted through DanceComp Genie by a dance studio or eligible independent entrant.

Can independent dancers enter?

Yes, subject to the published registration requirements.

When is my place confirmed?

Once the required deposit has been received.

How does Early Bird work?

Pay the required deposit before the Early Bird deadline and clear the balance at least four weeks before the event.

Can I amend my entries?

Yes, within the published correction period. Later changes may incur an administration fee.

When is the schedule released?

After registration closes and entries have been finalised.

Can I request a performance time?

No. Performance times cannot normally be changed once the schedule has been issued.

03 / Event Day

Event Day

Do dancers need spectator tickets?

No. Registered competitors receive a dancer wristband.

Can parents go backstage?

Backstage access is restricted to authorised teachers, chaperones and event staff.

When must music be uploaded?

Music must be uploaded by the published deadline and a backup copy should be brought to the event.

Can I film performances?

Audience photography and filming are not permitted unless specifically authorised.

Judging & Awards

How are routines judged?

Three experienced industry judges assess technique, musicality, choreography and performance.

How is feedback delivered?

Every routine receives personalised recorded feedback after the event.

What awards are available?

Participation medals, placement awards, special awards, Title Awards and the Golden Buzzer.

What is the Golden Buzzer?

A special judges’ recognition for an exceptional performance. Regional winners qualify for the Golden Buzzer Showcase at the Grand Finals.

What happens if the competition is postponed?

Where possible, entries are transferred to the replacement event. Please see the Competition Rules for full details.

What happens if my dancer cannot attend?

Please refer to the Competition Rules for the withdrawal and refund policy.
